Pokemon Sword and Shield consist of some interesting and fun methods to evolve your Pokémon—and you can evolve Inkay too.
In Sword and Shield, you can evolve your Inkay to Malamar and this requires that require a really weird but simple method. You’d first have to make sure that you an Inkay.
If you love Malamar like me, here’s how to evolve.
You can find Pokemon in Fishing Spots when on Route 7 and 9 or when in the Giant’s Mirror or Hammerlocke Hills in the Wild Area. Coming back to how to evolve Inkay (which is why you’re on this page right now).
Like it used to be in 3DS, you can also have Inkay is to cool off until it gets to around level 30. As soon as it levels up in battle play, you need to do something with your Switch, basically, you need to have it flipped upside down in handheld mode.
The only way to evolve Inkay, similar to how it worked in 3DS, is to wait until Inkay is at least level 30. Then, when it levels up in battle, flip your Switch upside down while in handheld mode.
Have your pro controllers disconnected off!
An extra tip is to make sure that you have all the controllers are put off. If your Switch is docked you’d struggle to have Inkay evolved. I know you might be at the point of giving up hence this tip, take out your Switch’s Dock and have it flipped upside down as you continue the battle. If you still have your controller synced from the dock mode, it may still not work for you.
As soon as the battle ends you’d see Inkay gradually evolved! Interesting right? While the process is strange it is also entirely fun and not so tasking to achieve.
Now you see evolving Inkay is as simple as turning your console upside down in handheld mode.
